Investors on Bursa Malaysia witnessed a modest rebound as the market ended slightly higher on Monday, snapping a three-session losing streak. This uptick, driven by regional market gains and targeted bargain hunting in heavyweight stocks, provided a welcome relief to traders.

The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI, the benchmark index, edged up by 1.38 points, or 0.08%, closing at 1,666.94. During the trading session, the index had climbed to a high of 1,674.74 before profit-taking pared back some of the gains. This movement underscores the delicate balance investors are maintaining as they navigate a complex market landscape.

Key performers included stocks in the refining and renewable energy sectors. Notably, Hengyuan leaped RM1 to RM4.34, while Petron Malaysia Refining saw a rise of 33 sen, reaching RM3.79. Companies like Samaiden, Solarvest, and Pekat also posted gains, reflecting investor confidence in these industries amid broader economic uncertainties.

On the currency front, the ringgit appreciated by 0.13% against the US dollar, settling at 4.0765. In contrast, Brent crude prices saw a decline, dropping 2.04% to US$101.75 a barrel as concerns over potential supply disruptions began to wane, influencing commodity market dynamics.

Meanwhile, the positive sentiment was echoed across regional markets, with notable gains in major indexes such as Japan’s Nikkei 225, South Korea’s Kospi, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng. These developments highlight the interconnected nature of global markets and the factors influencing investor behavior.
