Indonesia and China have solidified their economic partnership by signing three significant investment agreements during the Indonesia-China Partnership Forum held in Jakarta. These agreements, which amount to about $2 billion or Rp36 trillion, are set to enhance collaboration in renewable energy, manufacturing, and infrastructure sectors.

The most substantial of these agreements involves the creation of a 300-megawatt agrivoltaic solar power plant in North Sumatra. This project, valued at approximately $1.35 billion, is set to integrate solar power production with agricultural activities, positioning itself as one of the largest renewable energy initiatives in the region.

Additional agreements were established between Jobubu Jarum Minahasa, an Indonesian food and beverage company, and Guangxi G. Taste Food Co., Ltd. of China. Another deal was reached between Telkom Properti Indonesia and CNEC Engineering Indonesia, further cementing the cooperative ties between the two nations.

Indonesia’s Ambassador to China, Djauhari Oratmangun, emphasized the government’s focus on attracting high-quality investments that would not only create jobs but also facilitate technology transfer, bolster domestic industries, and support sustainable economic growth. He identified renewable energy, electric vehicles, artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing, and green technology as critical areas for future collaboration between Indonesia and China.

The Ministry of Investment in Indonesia reported that Chinese investments in the country have reached $38.34 billion from 2021 through the first half of 2026, contributing to the creation of over 500,000 jobs. This ongoing financial influx underscores the robust economic relationship between the two countries and highlights the strategic importance of their partnership in driving growth and innovation.
